VETEX district hotel

"Shapes inspired by nature breathe life."

I advocated for repurposing the historic Vetex textile factory with a touch of nature at its core. Organic forms, taking cues from the natural world, emerge and flourish amidst the sturdy walls of Vetex. These graceful, fluid lines serve as the focal point in transforming an otherwise stark space. The result is a striking tension created by juxtaposing the organic design with the factory's rigid facade. Emphasizing a symbiotic inside-outside connection, inspired by our intrinsic desire to be amidst greenery, I pared down Vetex to its skeletal essence. Addressing the need for an exterior, I enveloped Vetex in a translucent glass casing. Although its brutalist essence is softened, it remains perceptible.

The structure's solid form retains its distinct brutalist character. Through the integration of sleek, flowing lines, I aim to lead visitors seamlessly and intuitively throughout the Vetex District Hotel.

I am proud to showcase this design as my culminating piece for the Interior Design program at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent.
